Participation
in public expertise and implementation of the International projects
The formation
of the public-ecological movement for the environmental protection
in the oil industry is a priority directions of activity of the
ecological NGOs in Azerbaijan. Their activity for the last 2-3 year
shows, that by organization of public hearing of the oil projects
(mainly projects Environmental impact assessment), realization of
their public examination, independent monitoring and inventory of
sources of environmental pollution is possible to receive the complete
and exact information for organization of ecological propaganda
. Such propaganda stimulates formation of the public movement for
environmental protection in the oil industry and in certain conditions
brings to positive changes in the oil projects and contracts.
In close cooperation NGOs stimulated the cooperative projects of
ISAR in 2000 Within the given programs the successful projects on
Ecological influence of Gabala Radar Station on the mass wreck,
Caspian seals, Shirvan reserve etc. are carried out.
At the decision important environmental problems the representatives
of NGOs are involved in discussions, that gives positive results.
For example it is possible to note the following facts: For 1996-2000
only Ecological Society "Ruzgar" has carried out 5 projects
on the public-ecological monitoring of pollution sources on oil-industry
objects . To such objects oil refining complexes "Azerbneftyag"
and "Azerbneftyanajag", Main oil pipelines Baku-Supsa,
2-nd Sea terminals and oth. Results and the recommendations of the
Society are finished the item of information of industrial bodies
and partially or are completely discounted in the projects. The
basic activity "Ruzgar" is directed on realization of
the public monitoring of the pollution of air environment by objects
of the oil industry and organization of ecological propagation for
its protection.
The society since 1998 is the member of International Union of Associations
on prevention of pollution of air (IUAPPA) and within the framework
of international cooperation is busy in questions prevention of
pollution of air environment in Azerbaijan
