ISAR-Azerbaijan

The main activity of ISAR-Azerbaijan since 1996 have been foxed to strengthening of third sector in Azerbaijan by realization of programs for information exchange, tranings and Small grants. These programs mainly directed to Azerbaijan NGOs on Social and Environmental sphere of activities.
Caspian Program is directed on strengthening of cooperation between public organizations in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan, working in the field of environmental protection. This three-year Program (October 1998- October 2001) is carried out by International organization ISAR with a financial support of US Agency on International Development (USAID).
At that moment within the frameworks of Caspian program the following directions are realized:
· Project of development of electronic mail among the public organizations of region,
· Grant Program for the joint ecological projects of public organizations and initiative groups
· Information service "Caspinfo"
· Holding conferences and seminars on various environmental problems in Caspian region
For 1999-2000 the following work were carried out:
1) It is realized 3 rounds Grant competitions on development of electronic mail and 2 rounds Grant on fulfillment of the joint projects
2) Among the ecological NGO periodically distributed the information on various aspects of ecology of the Caspian region ("Caspinfo")
3) Following conferences and seminars within the framework of the Program are held :
- Strengthening of cooperation and development of partner relations between NGOs
of Caspian countries , Baku, April 1999
- Public ecological monitoring and control in Caspian region, Baku- March 2000
- Development of principles of mutual relations of NGOs with transnational
corporations in the Caspian region, Àlmaty, September 2000

The materials of the conferences and seminars are published in the bulletins of Caspian Program ISAR.
For January 2001 is planned to organize the seminar " Search of opportunities of wide use of renewed natural resources of Caspian Sea: a role of NGO " in Astrakhan (Russia).
The ISAR-Azerbaijan also develop Programs of Small Grant, Large Grant, Cooperative Azerbaijan-Georgian Grant and Azerbaijan -USA Grant in the field of Environmental protection.
