UN Program on Ecological rehabilitation of Sumgait

The program was created and financed by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). It is directed to the salvation of problems, connected with pollution of environment in Sumgait industrial region and their consequences.
It is realized 4 structural branches:
- creation of rational ecological information system
- development of the program of the ecological control
- development of a package of the concepts both ideas about rehabilitate and reconstruction of Sumgait
- the preparation of the program of dissemination of information among the state bodies and industry, and all Society as well.
Long-term objectives of the project is maintenance priority of improvement of natural and social sphere, including public health, quality of life, ecological safety and etc.
The developed ecological concept is called to decide such questions as coordination of problems of protection of the nature and rational use of natural resources with structure and prospects of development of industrial forces
Ways of maintenance of ecological safety of Sumgait follows from the prospect and character of development of industrial complex:
- prime capital investment must be directed to reconstruction and technical requirement of working manufactures;
- specialization of the enterprises on the basis of local raw resources with application of technology, taking into account processing of accompanying products and wasters
- realization of measures on the environmental protection, ensuring radical improvement of ecological conditions
Ecological concept takes into account realization of struggle with the reasons of disasters.
