Article of the criminal code of Azerbaijan Republic,
connected to ecological crimes

Ecological crimes and the punishments related to these crimes are stipulated in 28 chapters (article 247-261) of the criminal Code of Azerbaijan republic. This Criminal Code was authorized by the law of December 30, 1999 and has come into force since September 01, 2000
In 247 articles of the criminal Code punishment by deprivation of freedom for the period of 5 years is stipulated for infringement of rules of the environmental protection during implementation of the work.

The basic ecological crimes in the criminal Code:
- pollution of water (water sources - 250),
- pollution of atmospheric air ( 251),
- damage of the Earth ( 254),
- infringement of rules of guards and use earthly crust ( 255),
- illegal shooting ( 258),
- illegal timber of trees ( 259),
- destruction and damage of a wood ( 260),
- infringement of a mode of guards of specially protected natural zones and natural objects (261).

In article 248 legislation for infringement of rules of the manipulation with substances dangerous with ecological point of view and wastes in dependence degree of danger are stipulated punishment from the penalties before detention in jail for up to 8 years.
In article 249 of the criminal Code - for infringement of veterinary rules and established rules of struggle with illnesses of plants and the weeds provide punishments of a various degree up to 2 years of deprivation of freedom.
