Ecological Society "Ruzgar" is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization of Azerbaijani citizens. Ecological Society "Ruzgar" was established in April 1996 by the group of scientists, engineers, doctors, philosophers, sociologists, lawyers, economists and journalists, working in various fields of Environmental protection. This society has youth organizations, which unifies many prospective young students and specialists.
Main aims of the Society are carrying out public monitoring of ecological situation, organize civil activity for improvement of the environment and ecological education of the country population and protection of environmental rights of the population.

To achieve these aims Ecological Society "Ruzgar" carries out the following activity:
Inventory of harmful substances emissions sources to environment from industry objects,
Organization of Conferences, seminars and meetings on various problems of Environment protection
Composition ecological passports for industry objects,
A study of Radiation background of the Environment,
Working out recommendations on the decreasing of Environmental impact of industry objects
Propaganda of ecological knowledge
Publication of bulletins, popular brochures, articles and leaflets about the Environmental protection
Participation in working out of new legislative and normative documents on the Environment protection.

ES "Ruzgar" has implemented projects:
1. Estimation of influence of oil-industry objects to atmosphere air pollutionin Baku and organization of according monitoring" (1996),
2. The supporting of reform in social sphere. Publication of report on ecological and social aspects of oil industry development in Azerbaijan" (1997)
3. Workshop on "Environmental impact of main oil pipe-lines" ,8-10 July,1997, Baku, Azerbaijan.(Worldbank-1997)
4. Social environmental inventory of pollution sources in the pipe-lines objects of western route (ISAR-1999).
5. Apsheron lakes. ISAR-2000
6. Conference "Social-environmental problems of Azerbaijan lakes" (Worldbank-2001)
